«Les métamorphoses du jour » Tarot has original artwork based on drawings by French artist, J. J. Grandville. The droll, сomical, detailed cards are based on the Rider-Waite pattern and feature fantastical human-like animals. Today, there are several tarot decks based on the illustrations of this famous artist, but despite this, each compiler of these decks sees his own, different from the others in the characters of J.J. Grandville.

These drawings are remarkable for the extraordinary skill with which human characteristics are represented in animal facial features. Though the designs of Grandville are occasionally unnatural and absurd, they usually display keen analysis of character and marvellous inventive ingenuity, and his humour is always tempered and refined by delicacy of sentiment and a vein of sober thoughtfulness.
